I am finishing up my masters degree in Nutrition and Food science at Utah State University, I have had a special opportunity to focus on nutrition's impact on human health under sport and exercise conditions. I received my undergraduate in Exercise Physiology at Brigham Young University - Idaho. Which ignited my love for exercise, sports nutrition, and research. My current project specifically looks at the effects of lactoferrin on iron status on women in athletics. Iron deficiency is a major concern not only for athletic performance but for the long term health of women. And it is gratifying to contribute to research that may improve iron supplement effectiveness, sport performance, as well as reduce the negative symptoms many people experience with it. I’m planning on beginning work in the food product development industry in late spring, and am excited that I will be able to make use of both my nutritional understanding and my love for product development.
