Motivational Speaker
Tara. Better known online as the New Mexico Milkmaid is a fifth-generation dairy farmer, farm wife, environmental scientist, mom to two girls and a New Mexico Native.
She grew up her whole life on her family’s dairy. Then after earning her degree in Environmental Science from the University of Arizona, She moved back to New Mexico, got married and accepted a position as an environmental scientist. Now, her husband, Daniel, and their two girls live and work on our dairy in Eastern New Mexico.
She has spent the last 9 years working as an environmental scientist on dairy farm projects throughout the southwest. She assists my clients with state and federal regulatory compliance, water conservation, sustainable management practices, and quarterly monitoring reports. As a certified NRCS technical service provider, she is able to assist producers with nutrient and irrigation management.
She began sharing her story because she found that people often have several misconceptions about farmers and farming. She wanted to set the record straight about dairy farm life and on farm sustainability.
One of her other passions is serving as president of United Dairy Women. A charity committed to providing local New Mexico children’s homes with the recommended three servings of dairy a day for the entire year. United Dairy Women has raised more than $1.3 million to further their cause.
As you check out her website and social channels, you will find a little bit of everything: the day-to-day life of a dairy farmer, environmental sustainability, motherhood, favorite recipes, charity work and travel. She is driven by her passion for sharing the facts about dairy farming.
Dairy farming is not just a job to her family, it is a way of life. They put their hearts and souls into their cows and their land.
